This Charlotte property sat on a steep slope that was losing ground — literally. Years of runoff had carved deep erosion channels through the hillside, exposing red clay and washing away usable yard space. An aging split-rail fence did nothing to hold the grade, and the lower portion of the lot had become unstable and unusable.

Our team excavated the eroded hillside and installed a long-run segmental block retaining wall in a dark charcoal finish, standing several feet tall and spanning the full width of the property. The wall was engineered to manage the grade change while preserving the mature trees throughout the slope. Once the wall was set, we regraded the upper yard to create a level, stable surface ready for new sod and future landscaping.

Where there was once a steep, eroding hillside the homeowner couldn’t use, there’s now a structurally sound terrace with a flat upper yard and clean sight lines from the deck. The retaining wall turned wasted slope into real square footage — and added serious long-term value to the property.
